Scorecard Methodology
Alignment Score is calculated by comparing a legislator’s voting record on individual bills with the majority opinion of resident testimonies submitted remotely to the New Hampshire House of Representatives via the General Court website. For each bill, the legislator’s stance – either in support or opposition – is identified based on their vote. In parallel, all resident testimonies for that bill are analyzed to determine whether the majority supported or opposed it. If the legislator’s vote aligns with the majority of resident testimonies, the legislator is considered to be aligned with residents on that bill.
The final Alignment Score is the percentage of bills where the legislator’s position is aligned with the majority opinion of residents, calculated relative to all the bills considered. Bills where the legislator was absent or abstained from voting are excluded from this calculation. Resident testimonies and voting records are publicly available from the New Hampshire General Court website; data aggregation and analysis was performed by Trailside Analytics, LLC.
