Janet Wall State Representative Janet G. Wall is an experienced Legislator with a proven record working across party lines and bringing people together to solve problems. She is a lifetime local resident. A former teacher and small business owner, Wall understands taxpayers’ concerns. She always listens, researches issues, and works for constituents’ best interests.

Rep. Janet G. Wall has substantial leadership roles in the House, at Strafford County, and locally. In the House, Wall has held some of the most responsible and challenging leadership roles including being an assistant Minority Leader, Vice Chair and then Ranking Member of the Joint Ethics Committee and is Chairman of the NH-Canada Trade Council.

Wall has served the House Education Committee and as Vice Chairman of the House Judiciary Committee; and the Resources Recreation and Development Committee. She is the Vice Chair of the Joint Historic Committee and Curatorial Committee, plus Chaired the NH Heritage Collections Committee.

Among her legislative accomplishments for citizens, Wall made the government more accountable while strengthening ethics laws. She has improved protections for Great Bay and its estuary, water resources, and a number of rivers. She strongly supports LCHIP. She has improved guardianship for the elderly and infirm. She successfully worked to protect children from internet crimes and individuals from identity theft.

Wall continues updating and improving the Right to Know law. She was the first to legislate hospital mergers to improve access to health care. Wall successfully authored 25 foot buffer zone law protecting women at reproductive healthcare facilities.

Wall is recognized for her leadership and skills in negotiating as the one House Democrat appointed to serve on different Committees of Conference at the end of each year to work out differences between the House and Senate versions on key bills. Locally, Wall chaired the Strafford County Delegation and continues chairing the Riverside Rest Home Committee, while serving on the County executive committee.

She was the first woman member in the Durham Great-Bay Rotary Club, which has honored her as a Paul Harris Fellow. She has served many years on the Madbury ZBA, and Water Resources Board; and Madbury Selectman, most recently chairing the board of selectmen. She has a record of being active in many local organizations, including lifetime memberships in several historical societies, (founder of Madbury Historical Society), together with other commitments.

Wall has received recognitions including Governor’s Award–Outstanding Volunteer (twice), NHCA Award for Outstanding Service to Constituents, Outstanding Service to Alzheimer’s Patients, Education Champion, and Healthcare Champion. Endorsements include the NH Sierra Club, NEA-NH, NHSEA, Teamsters, and others.
